In 2016 the artists built the world’s biggest rhino sculpture for Sculpture by the Sea – the world’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition in Sydney – which took out two prestigious People’s Choice Awards. “Shandu [the name of the rhino sculptor] means change in South Africa and this was one rhino who lived up to his name,” Marc says. Gillie and Marc donated all their prize money to The Australian Rhino Project (ARP). The ARP aims to relocate 80 endangered Southern White Rhinoceros to Australia in an effort to safeguard the species.
Currently, Gillie and Marc are about to beat their own record by creating a 16-foot tall rhino sculpture that will be installed into Astor Place, the heart of New York City early 2018.
Art Acacia Gallery is honoured to work with Gillie and Marc and present a bronze sculpture show which, among others, display a replica of New York City public artwork - ‘The Last Three on Earth’.
